There are two divisions within Bio Medical Research Limited (BMR Ltd.): NeuroTech which focuses on the medical and physical therapy markets, and Slendertone, which focuses on utilizing this same muscle exercising technology to bring products to the general consumer health and fitness market.

Bio Medical Research Ltd is a privately owned company with over 40 years of specialist experience in the design, manufacture and marketing of muscle exercisers. BMR started manufacturing neuromuscular electrical stimulators (NMES) in the 1960's and became the first NMES company to produce microprocessor-controlled devices, which allowed disease-specific program flexibility. Continuing its pioneering tradition, BMR developed the concept of sub-pulsing the signal to improve transmission of the stimulation signal across the skin. Finally, BMR introduced the concept of the Bodymatched Impedance Waveform, which allows optimum transfer of stimulus current to the skin. The net result is that this technology has set the stage for Slendertone to effectively deliver safe, convenient, and effective muscle exercising products that gets results.
Hailed as one of Ireland's success stories, Bio-Medical Research Limited firmly established its reputation in 1995 when it was listed in Europe's 500 fastest growing companies.
